Yesterday, I covered the chemistry, manufacturing & controls (CMC) aspects of drug development, calling it the neglected child in vax safety:

CMC is the term the industry uses to describe the supply chain, from beginning to end. That seems to blind those working in the industry to pharma supply chains being just like any other safety-critical supply chains. It sounds very scientific and complicated—all part of the smoke and mirrors pharma uses to keep strangers out.
People were sidelined by the veil of secrecy
When SARS-CoV-2 emerged, that veil of secrecy stopped people, especially those in power, asking the obvious question—how did they manage to develop and manufacture a medicinal product, at full scale, 10 time quicker than it had ever been done before?
