BioNTech was a tiny minnow of a company until big pharma companies put the wind under its wings. The company was formed in 2008 and by 2013 it had only ever run a safety study of its magic juice in melanoma (a solid cancer).

Then from 2014 to 2018, this happened:

Strategic collaborations with Bayer Animal Health, Genentech, (a member of the Roche Group), Genmab, Siemens, Sanofi, Regeneron, Genevant, Pfizer, University of Pennsylvania). Completion of 270 million USD Series A financing round.

Then, in 2019, as if by magic:

BioNTech becomes a publicly traded company on the NASDAQ Global Select Market under the ticker symbol BNTX.
