Chapter 6: Panic and Confusion Reign in the Industry

“Don’t Panic, Captain Mainwaring!”

We have not yet broken this SICCI-NING news to the industry. However, any patient with a condition has symptoms and other signs that tell them things are not quite right.

In this chapter, we take a look at the underlying panic and confusion brought about by that unspoken sense of doom.

For those not familiar with British television’s Dad’s Army, Lance Corporal Jones was famous for cautioning all around not to panic while exhibiting all the signs himself. He would brandish his bayonet and declare, “They don’t like it up ’em, you know“ (the enemy, that is!) and implore his commanding officer, Captain Mainwaring, to set him loose among them in a brave attempt to resolve the unfolding crisis.

The captain always remained calm and berated Jones for his lack of self-control and fortitude and took matters into his own hands. Some say Big Pharma should be panicking, al la Corp…
