Conditional Marketing Authorisations show no signs of ending
The approval to sell Pfizer/BioNTech injections across the UK was given by MHRA under a Conditional Marketing Authorisation. The CMA was issued subject to certain conditions being met, according to the Guidance below:

The MHRA’s existing scheme for applications under exceptional circumstances will continue to be available for medicines where a comprehensive data package cannot be provided, because the condition to be treated is rare or because collection of full information is not possible or is unethical.
There is no explanation of why full information could not be collected in the case of SARS-CoV-2 injections. We can only assume it was an ‘emergency’, making it unethical to hold back a conditional authorisation to sell. Make your own mind up on that one!
