In the world of drug development, the ‘indication’ is omnipotent.
So, what is an indication, if you don't already know.
An indication is the medical condition that a medicine is used for. As an example, insulin is indicated for Type 1 diabetes. For Type 2 diabetes, a change of diet may be indicated along with monitoring of the condition. It is for the doctor to assess the indication based on the diagnosis. Listings are available for a doctor to refer to establish the products indicated for a particular diagnosis. In the UK it is the Monthly Index of Medical Specialities (MIMS). A doctor may also use a medicinal product ‘off label’ if experience suggests an intervention would be beneficial. That should have been the case with existing drugs such as ivermectin.
